About me

I'm Peyton, a clarinetist and recent graduate of Oberlin College and Conservatory, where I earned my Bachelor of Music in Clarinet Performance.

I've been playing clarinet for over a decade and have had the privilege of studying with distinguished teachers throughout my training, including Richard Hawkins at Oberlin and Dr. Bryan Conger at Interlochen Arts Academy.

I've been teaching for the past six years, working with students of all ages and skill levels.

I'm originally from Florida but moved to the Midwest for school and now call Austin, Texas, home.

Wherever I've landed, a few things stay constant: I'm a big joker at heart, I love to laugh, and one of my personal goals is to make the people around me laugh too.

I also love to learn — reading, teaching, and picking up new things are basically hobbies in themselves.

For me, music has always been about connection — to the music itself, to the people you make it with, and to the version of yourself that only shows up when you're fully engaged in something you love. That's the experience I try to create for every student I work with. Whether you're picking up the clarinet for the first time, preparing for an audition, or getting ready for a competitive summer festival, my goal is to meet you where you are and help you grow in a way that genuinely feels like you.

My lessons are built around curiosity and encouragement.

I believe the best learning happens when students feel supported enough to take risks — and I bring patience, enthusiasm, and humor to create that environment.

Musically, I primarily listen to classical, but I genuinely love all genres — you never know what'll be playing during a lesson.

Outside the lesson room, you'll probably find me brewing a pour-over, bowling, cooking up something new, hitting a hiking trail, planning my next trip, or buried in a good book.
